Shotokan Fitness Karate School

Shotokan Fitness Karate School
EST. 2011 with roots going back to 1998 at the Porchester Centre, London, UK.

The name **Shotokan Fitness Karate School** was carefully chosen by **Sensei Ylli**. While it may seem simple at first glance, each word carries deep meaning and reflects the values and principles we live by in our training.

🙇‍♂️ 👊  SHOTOKAN
We proudly follow the **Shotokan** style of karate. This word is more than just a label—it defines who we are and the philosophy we practice. Shotokan is the foundation of our discipline, and its principles are passed on to each student, shaping not only our karate but also our way of life.

🏃 FITNESS
**Fitness** is essential to every class we offer. We believe that karate should improve both mind and body. While not everyone may reach high ranks or black belts, **fitness is for everyone**. Every training session includes physical conditioning to keep us strong, healthy, and ready—both on and off the mat.

🥋 KARATE
The word **Karate** reminds us that we train in the **empty-handed way**. We focus on self-defense using our own body—without weapons. We also believe that when two people meet in conflict, the use of weapons should be avoided. By training our hands and legs well, we develop the confidence and skill to protect ourselves while also building the mindset to avoid violence.

🚸 SCHOOL
We use the word **School** instead of club because we are more than just a group of people training together. A school is a place of **learning and growth**. We don’t just kick and punch—we develop life skills, discipline, and respect that go beyond the dojo.

In Conclusion:
The four words in our name—**Shotokan Fitness Karate School**—carry deep meaning and guide our daily training:

Shotokan: Our style and principles.
Fitness: Building a strong, healthy body for everyone.
Karate: Training in the empty-handed way, without weapons.
School: A place to learn for life, not just a place to train.

These words remind us every day who we are, what we do, and what we strive for.
