Explain in your own words why Karate is important to you! ( B y Harvey )  Karate is important in many ways as it provides a healthy lifestyle choice to myself and my son. This initially began 35 years ago for a couple of years but as officework commitments increased I had to put this on hold, the passion stayed with me. The interest for karate was rekindled when about seven and a half years ago my son Noah joined the dojo as a white belt and progressed with enthusiasm and developed through the katas. I had watched him exercise and train with his fellow students, it was inspiring, and when Ylli Sensei allowed adults to join in I had the opportunity to resume my training again by starting as a white belt. I believe that karate helps develop a stronger bond with my son by allowing me to take an active role as possible in my son’s development without feeling out of place. A pivotal moment was as a brown belt my son questioned his ability and  I was able to provide him with su

My Personal view of Karate December 5th 2021.  2nd Dan What has changed since last grading? Since my last grading, I have changed in many ways due to the new things I have learnt. But the most important thing of all, is that I feel as though I have grown closer to karate as a way of life. I have become much closer with the other students and sensei in the dojo. I don't feel as though I am mindlessly going through the day anymore, I feel as though the things I have learnt are useful in not just training, but also in life. What did I (you) learn during this time? During this time, I have learnt many kata's and have performed them well, but recently I believe I am able to see more of the practical side of training; the way I convey myself and the way I act with others have been modified slightly from my learning, this is because the understanding of my training has finally begun. I am starting to use the techniques and philosophy from each kata in my way of life. It is slowly cha

Lilis  Personal View of Karate.  Part of GRADING paperwork for junior Black Belts outlining their qualities and the benefits of practising karate over the years. Why should Sensei grade me to 1st Dan? I think sensei should grade me to a black belt because: I have been doing Karate for nearly 6 years. I have a passion for Karate and I usually try my best. I always try to do what sensei tells me to do with general training, kata and kumite.   If I pass my black belt I am not going to stop practicing karate like some others do. I will try my hardest to continue and to get to the highest Dan I can in the future.  I find that Karate is something that I really enjoy. I have tried other things (activities) but Karate was the only one I really enjoyed. I feel that I'm ready to take all the responsibilities that being a black belt comes with. How does Karate benefit me? Karate benefits me in lots of ways.  For instance if someone grabs hold of me I have a better chance of gettin

Albans Personal view of Karate Here's what he has to say. Why karate is important to me. Karate is important because it gives me a safe environment for me to express myself truly. It's important because not only is it good for (self-defence) but for my health too, it’s also fun and exciting. It taught me discipline, respect and duty, making me a better person.  Because of this I cannot thank my sensei enough for this opportunity; without him I could not have pushed myself to my limits and beyond. How karate benefits me. Karate benefits me in many ways; for example, by improving my physical health. The way karate does this is through a variety of different techniques and exercises from cardio to muscle training to many other things. Karate also brings up my mental health as (somehow) makes

Karate makes me physically fit, keeps me physically healthy and helps me become (mentally) healthy and strong. Karate helps me mentally by improving my concentration and confidence. I am more disciplined and focused in everything that I do, both at school and at home. Karate teaches me about responsibility, self-respect and courage to do the right thing in all aspects of life and behave in a manner that shows respect for others around me. I have learned to defend myself when necessary but more importantly I have learned to have patience, self-control and calmness. It also gave me the intelligence to avoid confrontation and be able to walk away from harmful situations whenever possible. I have self confidenc
