Please remember that grading is not automatic. Students must demonstrate the appropriate standard and understanding before being considered for promotion.
🤼 13th December – PRACTICAL SELF-DEFENCE EVALUATION
Where
📍 Porchester Centre
Students will be assessed on their understanding and practical application of the following:
Leg locks
Headlocks
Takedowns
Hold-downs
Defences against headlocks, leg locks and other grappling techniques
What Is the Purpose of This Assessment?
The purpose of this session is to give students the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned and, more importantly, what they have retained from previous training sessions.
Expectations will naturally vary according to each student's age, grade and experience.
The instructor will assess each student individually and provide feedback to help them understand their strengths and identify areas for improvement.
This is an assessment format we aim to maintain every term, allowing us to monitor students' development, encourage consistency and support their progress in practical self-defence.
WHY DO WE DO THESE ASSESSMENTS?
At our dojo, training is about much more than simply attending classes or collecting belts.
We want students to understand what they are learning, retain their knowledge and develop the ability to apply their techniques.
These evaluations and competitions allow us to:
Monitor individual progress.
Identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Develop confidence and discipline.
Improve technical knowledge and practical application.
Encourage students to take responsibility for their own development.
Remember, progress takes time, consistency and commitment.
Keep training, keep learning and keep improving!
We look forward to seeing everyone in the dojo.
